About

Women in STEM (WinS) is a community college club at Los Medanos College dedicated to inspiring students to take interest in the STEM field regardless of their background or identity. Our club is all-inclusive and offers opportunities for WinS members to experience new things and learn about the many fields of interest in STEM as we attend as many events and opportunities that arise.

We actively promote women and minorities in STEM and try to combat stigma against community colleges as an option for furthering one's education through public outreach and volunteering events.

Science is not a boy's game, it's not a girl's game. It's everyone's game. It's about where we are and where we're going.

This job is a great scientific adventure. But it's also a great human adventure. Mankind has made giant steps forward. However, what we know is really very, very little compared to what we still have to know.

Outreach

We visit high schools to talk to students about Women in STEM and the importance of minorities in this field. We also advocate against the stigmas that surround community colleges on behalf of our school Los Medanos College.

Our Mission

Networking Events

In the past, we our club members have gone to several STEM-related networking events. Among these are conferences with the Women Chemists Committee and Generation Sci held at Stanford University.
